Time for KCC to deliver promised Extension to Disabled Bus Pass

The disabled bus pass and companion pass are currently only valid from 9:30 am onwards. Last September Kent County Council unanimously approved a Liberal Democrat proposal to make the pass valid for travel in Kent before 9:30am. KCC should get the new arrangements put in place straight away.

Rob at CHKCC has set aside £200,000 in its proposed budget for 2020-21 to cover the additional costs. But, 5 months after agreeing to the proposal, KCC has yet to work out how best to implement the new arrangements. That's not good enough.

Rob Bird, Leader of the Liberal Democrat group commented, "Kent County Council has always aspired to help disabled people to live as normal a life as possible, including going to work. This is reiterated in the KCC's proposed new Strategic Statement.

"The disabled community really welcomed this initiative. They deserve better from the County Council which has done next to nothing for 5 months. At Thursday's Budget debate, I will insist that the Administration gives this issue proper priority. They need to come up with firm proposals for extending these passes by the end of March."
