Maidstone and the Weald Liberal Democrats

General Election Results

The Liberal Democrats made huge inroads into the Conservative Majority here in Maidstone and the Weald at the General Election on 6th May.

At the count, Peter Carroll:

"Whilst it is clearly disappointing that we didn't win here in Maidstone and the Weald, we have dramatically reduced the Conservative majority.

"I'd like to thank everyone who has helped in this campaign and all those who voted for the Liberal Democrats."

The results in full:

Peter Carroll (Liberal Democrats): 17602 votes (+13.2%). 36%

Helen Grant (Conservative): 23491 votes (-3.8%). 48%

Rav Seeruthun (Labour): 4769 votes (-12.6%). 9.7%

Gareth Kendall (UK Independence Party): 1637 votes (+0.3%). 3.3%

Stuart Jeffery (Green Party): 655 votes (+1.3%). 1.3%

Gary Butler (National Front): 643 votes (+1.3%). 1.3%

Heidi Ann-Marie Simmonds (Christian Party "Proclaiming Christ's Lordship"): 131 votes (+0.3%). 0.3%
