Clean Sweepers

Maidstone's biggest ever Clean Sweep campaign was launched on the 30th October when Maidstone Council officers and councillors together with the Meadow View Group cleared litter from our town centre water-courses. Scores of sacks of litter were collected, alongside the usual suspect shopping trolleys and other bulky rubbish.

The six-week Clean Sweep campaign will run until 11th December and your local Lib Dems are encouraging as many residents as possible to work together and make a positive change in our town, villages and countryside.

Other local groups already pledging to hold clean up events during the campaign include East Farleigh, Headcorn, Boughton Monchelsea, Boxley and Teston Parish Councils, Ringlestone and Park Wood Community Associations, as well as Hunton, Leeds and Broomfield and East Farleigh Primary Schools alongside many others.

If you would like to get involved, you can obtain litter-pickers, gloves, black sacks and high visibility waist-coats from Alison Sollis at Maidstone Council on tel. 01622 602281. Once you've collected your rubbish, please contact Alison so she can arrange to have it swiftly removed.
