New car park will be restricted to visitors to Oakwood House

Two important but separate issues concerning Oakwood Park have arisen in recent months.

1. An application from KCC to build a new car park for the sole use of visitors to Oakwood House. Their first proposal threatened Oak Wood, an ancient woodland which must be preserved for future generations, and involved the felling of a large number of trees. After discussions between your Lib Dem Councillors and KCC Officers, a much more acceptable scheme has been put forward and approved. However, this new car park will have little effect on the overall parking problems in the park as its use will be restricted to visitors to Oakwood House.

2. A huge number of cars are parked daily on the Oakwood campus; because there is not enough parking space in the park they spill out on to adjacent roads. This is not acceptable and something must be done. Your Lib Dem Cllrs are hoping to persuade the schools and colleges to work together to find a solution.
