"Hey Big Spender" - National Consumer Week

3.56.00pm GMT Fri 17th Nov 2006

The theme for this year's National Consumer Week is "Hey Big Spender - take a little advice from us".

From the 20th-24th November, Kent Trading Standards, supported by Consumer Direct will be highlighting the pitfalls of making larger purchases including cars and vehicle servicing, houses, holidays, home improvements etc. and making consumers aware of the help and advice that is available.

To kick off the week, Kent Trading Standards officers will be joined by mechanics from South Kent College at the Performance Area in Ashford High Street between 10am and 3pm on Monday 20 November . They will be offering consumer advice and practical tips on buying cars and car servicing. Advice will include how to check for body corrosion; correct tyre pressures and tyre tread when buying a second-hand car.
