Councillor Nick Schnell
Nick has lived in Maidstone since 1993, when he moved here to study for a Degree in Photography at the Kent Institute of Art and Design at Rochester. He has since worked as a freelance (part time) documentary photographer for clients such as Leica and Virgin. Nick is married with two sons aged 6 and 9 and lives on the edge of Fant Ward and the Town Centre.
Nick has always taken a keen interest in all things local especially when he started work as Hackney Carriage driver during his studies at Art College. He still works his taxi on a part time basis in the evenings which gives him a lot of contact with the residents of our town and a unique opportunity to listen to people's views.
When his sons started school, Nick has keen to learn more about primary education. He thought a good way to do this was to sign up as a LEA School Governor at St, Michael's C. of E. Infants School, Douglas Road, in 2002. Nick thoroughly enjoyed his experiences as Governor at this very warm and caring school and subsequently signed up for a second four year term as School Governor. He was so inspired by his experiences in primary education that he decided to study part time for my Post Graduate Certificate in Education and was awarded Qualified Teacher Status in December 2006. He now works as a supply teacher for St Michael's on a part time basis giving him plenty of time to work on behalf of my Constituents throughout the year - not just at election time!
You can contact Nick at any time on 01622 206748. All messages left on his answerphone will be answered as soon as possible. Alternatively, you can email Nick.
