Peter Carroll has today announced an important set of pledges to the electorate of Maidstone and the Weald.
Peter said, 'The public are absolutely disgusted by the conduct of many MPs. They rightly believe that their outrageous behaviour with expenses has ruined any faith that was left in politics. At this election, the calibre of the person will be more important than ever. I believe that people have had enough of professional politicians'.
If elected as the MP for Maidstone & The Weald Peter is pledging:
1. That he will not claim any kind of second home allowance
2. He will not have other jobs
3. To fight for a new system of voting that sees an end to 'safe' seats where people feel so confident of winning
Maidstone & The Weald has been represented for many years by widely respected Ann Widdecombe.
Peter said, 'Many people supported Ann even though they didn't agree with some of her politics. Like her, I am a straight talking, independently minded person. I will be fighting this election on my track record of actually getting things done. I am making an open challenge to all the candidates for this election in Maidstone and the Weald to publicly make the same pledges as above - the electorate deserve nothing less'.
