Roads across Maidstone have become impassable due to the snow.
I have been appalled by the state of our roads and pavements in Maidstone and across Kent during the recent cold spell.
There has been a real risk of injury to pedestrians from slipping and falling - many have ended up in hospital with broken bones. We've all seen drivers slithering along snow and ice packed roads.
At times, it seemed as if the Kent County Council had completely lost the battle. I'm sure many of you can remember, like me, a time when snow didn't stop the County!
The men and women who have been out driving the gritters and clearing snow and ice have worked very hard indeed. My criticism is aimed at the Conservative Councillors running Kent County Council. I have discovered that so much of the failure to cope has been because of management decisions at KCC. Recent re-organisations have just not worked!
I am writing to KCC to insist that this doesn't happen again. If you support my simple view that minor roads and our pavements NEED to be cleared when it snows please sign my petition - link below and join my facebook group - search for "Keep Our Pavements Free From Snow". The more people that get involved, the more powerful my argument.
