The use of instant broadcast messages by Kent Police is warmly welcomed by Maidstone and the Weald Liberal Democrats.
In the event of a child under 18 being abducted, Kent Police will activate a Child Rescue Alert (CRA) to be broadcast regularly on local television and radio in the first crucial hours. Detective Chief Superintendent Greg Barry said "Every parent's worst nightmare is to have their child abducted. When we believe a child has been taken we will immediately ask for help from the public to be our eyes and ears across the county."
Liberal Democrat Councillor and Shadow Cabinet Minister for Community Services, Clive English said, "The use of the media in this way will engage the local community and help the police in those critical first few hours. It's a system we whole-heartedly support."
